I hadn't had a date with her or been out with her before, but as I went in the car to Istanbul airport I felt that I knew her. I waited for her in the airport and I saw her instantly as she came through the doors and into the arrivals area. She smiled when she saw me standing there. She was just as good looking as I knew she had to be. We kissed and made our way to the taxi just outside. We sat in the taxi and held hands all the way back to the hotel. It was a great hotel with views of the Blue Mosque and the usual great Turkish welcome. We had 3 weeks to holiday and travel the land and I knew it was going to be great. I arranged a room with what they referred to as a French bed. It was simple enough to book it all on the Web. We had a great first night with a meal in a local restaurant and then we were all cosy in our room for the remainder of the night.
The following day we travelled by sea bus across the Sea of Marmara to the port town of Mudanya. I have an aquaintance who lives there and we were going to visit him and his family. It took a while to find him so we went to a hotel and stayed for one night. later we transferred to my friend's house. He helped us arrange a hire car which we were going to use for the next 3 weeks.
The following day we drove down the coast. There was no real plan, just drive until we found somewhere we liked. The first town had a nice beach and we went to ask at the different sites for a place to stay. In the end we got a place that was basically constructed out of an old container. The sides and roof were metal. It got quite hot during the day. Anyway it was cheap and we were down the beach swimming most of the time. The area had its own restaurant and we had an amazing fish meal with wine on the evening.
This was building up to be a super holiday with a fantastic person to share it with. I recall how different it was to the ocasions I had been in Turkey travelling with my friend. Don't get me wrong, we always had a great time. However this was different and somehow magical. We spent the remainder of the 3 weeks travelling down the Aegean coast to the Mediterranean stopping at villages we liked the look of. It was great and I didn't want it to end. No more single holidays for me. I had a plan. A plan that works every time! That's what you must do: 'plan it and do it'. So, don't you think that this is a very different idea on how to find your soulmate?
